"Not an attack": President of Romania spoke about the fall of the drones of the Russian Federation in the territory of the country

According to Klaus Johannis, the fragments of Russian drones have been found in Romania three times. The head of state noted that these incidents should be taken seriously. Russia does not attack Romania with drones, but the fall of their debris into the Romanian territory is a "real problem" and is "unacceptable". This was stated on September 22 by Romania President Klaus Johannis, reports Agerpres National news agency.

While in New York at the UN General Assembly, the President of Romania participated in the event at Columbia University, where Romania was discussed in connection with the war in Ukraine and its impact on security in the Black Sea region. Answering the audience's questions, the Head of State stressed that fragments of unmanned aircraft had been found in Romania three times. "No one has been injured yet, but that does not mean that these incidents should not be taken seriously," he said.

Klaus Johannis also added that after the incidents with drones, consultations with the Allies were conducted, and for the protection of citizens was strengthened system of air defense in the region. "Although Romania is not attacked by Russia, the situation with the wreckage of drones falling into our territory is a serious problem that needs to be solved," he emphasized.

The President also noted that the inhabitants of the Romanian side of the Danube River, who reside near the areas that have been attacked, are concerned but understand the importance of supporting Ukraine because "they see bombardment on the other bank and fear that they may become the next. " Johannis noted that the Russian armed forces attack small ports on the Ukrainian coast to complicate the transit of grain.

According to him, these attacks are war crimes because they are directed not against military objects, but against civilian structures and infrastructure, as well as against people engaged in ports. On September 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko said that during a night mass attack of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, several Russian drones-Kamikadze Shahd 136 was detonated in the Romanian territory in the Izmail port.
