Part of the European countries refused to transfer to Ukraine their air defense systems - Le Monde

Journalists say that Poland seeks to maintain the opportunities of its air defense on the eastern border. Italy and France are also difficult to supply. In Europe, some countries, such as the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland, refuse to transfer their air defense systems to Ukraine. About it writes Le Monde, referring to the statement of a German diplomat. "Countries refuse to part with them," he said.

It is known that Poland wants to maintain its own air defense potential because of its proximity to Ukraine and Belarus. At the same time, the source in Paris, with which the publication communicated, noted that in France and Italy there were also serious difficulties with the transfer of SAMP/T systems, which are an analogue of Patriot. "We are working on this in both the French administration and with our Italian partner, but we cannot expect the answer so quickly," the interlocutor said.

On April 16, the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrel called on EU Member States to buy systems for Ukraine, stressing that it is cheaper to buy US Patriot systems as soon as possible, even at the expense of Europe than to help restore installations destroyed during combat.

In general, since the beginning of the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine has received air defense systems from the United States, Germany and the Netherlands, which transmitted three Patriot batteries. In addition, Berlin sent 12 Iris-T anti-aircraft missile complexes, and 12 NASAMS systems were also received from Washington.
