Will protect against Russian air defense: Poland has purchased the latest Aargm-ER missiles for their F-35

In total, the Polish Air Force will receive 360 anti-radiolocation missiles Aargm-ER. And the cost of a potential contract is $ 1. 275 billion. The US State Department has agreed to sell Poland's anti-radiation missiles of the new generation of Aargm-ER to place them on F-35A fighters. This decision is intended to protect Polish planes from threats from the advanced Russian air defense systems. This was reported on April 25 in Defense 24.

A total of 360 anti-radiolocity controlled AARGM-ER missiles and eight reserve guidance and management modules were included in the package. Polish forces will also provide technical and logistics support and other auxiliary elements. "The total maximum cost of the potential contract is $ 1. 275 billion. The Contract will be Northrop Grumman," the observers said.

It is noted that the purpose of creating Aargm-ER rocket was the development of an anti-radiolocating missile, which would significantly exceed the AGM-88E AARGM missile in terms of speed and range from 2012. At the same time, it was decided to use the guidance system used in the previous version, which consists of a digital passive radar head, active millimeter radar and INS/GPS system. This also applies to the electronic components of the new rocket.

At the same time, AARGM-ER has a number of changes in the design-new wings, thermal security screen, solid fuel rocket engine and controls in the back of the fuselage. This made it possible to integrate the rocket into the F-35, placing it in the internal compartments of the aircraft, which is extremely important for low-EPR stealth jackets (effective scattering area). In addition, the new rocket engine made it possible to achieve a faster flight speed compared to AGM-88E.
