It is noted that the conscript age was raised from 27 to 30 years. The lower bar remained the same, that is, the Russians will be able to be taken to a conscript service at 18 years. The Russians, who are 27 years old before December 31, 2023, will not call for urgent service this year. According to journalists, at the end of July 2023, the State Duma immediately adopted amendment to the legislation on change of conscript age.
Previously, the transition period was expected for the lower limit of conscript age by 2026. However, before the second reading amendments, the lower limit, as well as the transition, were excluded. In addition, deferral from conscription service is provided to citizens working in accredited IT companies before they reach 30 years.
It is noted that the idea of changing the boundaries of the conscript age was made at the end of 2022 by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoig. In addition, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation wants to change the requirements for the health of the recruits.
