Poland will work on the embargo on agricultural products from the Russian Federation and Belarus - Donald Tusk

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he discussed the closure of the border with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal. According to him, such a decision will have consequences for two parties. Poland will work on the embargo on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk after meeting with Polish farmers on February 29, Radio Liberty writes. It is reported that the meeting lasted about four hours.

Tusk said the parties were able to discuss the proposals of farmers who were protesting near the border with Ukraine. He called their demands reasoned, but noted that some of them concerned the change in EU agricultural policy. Tusk noted that he and protesters want to protect the Polish farming, the Polish market, the European market before the very unfair consequences of the decision to liberalize trade with Ukraine.

He stated that farmers of Lublin Voivodeship, who grow raspberries, did not withstand competition with Ukraine. However, Tusk said that Warsaw wants and will continue to help Ukraine. Moreover, all participants of the meeting agree with that. They believe that checkpoints should be opened for transportation of military and humanitarian assistance. "I'm not talking about those who stick to farm protests, those political groups," he said.

Tusk said it was planned to introduce an embargo on agricultural products from Russia and Belarus. "We will work together on the introduction of embargo on Russian and Belarussian agro -products. This is not in mind that during the war, when we say that Ukraine should be liable to duty on the same duty to get Russian and Belarusian products at the same time without any restrictions" , - he said.

It is reported that farmers were the financing of EU grain transportation from European markets to countries that need it. She was supported by Tusk himself. Thus, in Poland itself, about 9 million tons of excess grain. Tusk noted that he discussed the closure of the border with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal. This decision will be a consequence for two parties. It will be approved only if there are no feedback from the EU to the Poles' demands.

We will remind, on February 27 the publication "Ukrainian Pravda" reported that in Poland law enforcement officers detained Ukrainian journalist Mikhail Tkach together with the operator. They removed the material about transit of products between Poland, Russia and Belarus. At the same time, the Polish police said they did not detain Michael Tkach on the Polish border. The department stated that the detention information was a fake.

However, Sevgil Musayeva, the editor -in -chief of the Ukrainian Truth, stated that Polish law enforcement officers were "lying" and she is ready to prove it. On February 29, Ukrainian Truth journalists said Poland increased the purchase of agricultural products in Russia. No one has forbidden to trade with Russia and Belarus, as there are no relevant sanctions. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine the turnover between Poland and the Russian Federation has grown several times.
