Biden invited Zelensky to negotiate because the war goes into a new phase - Kirby

According to a representative of the US National Security Council, Biden and Zelensky will discuss military and economic assistance to Ukraine, as well as how the war with the Russian Federation can end. US President Joe Biden has invited his Ukrainian colleague Vladimir Zelensky to Washington for a meeting because he believes that the war in Ukraine has entered a new stage. Strategic Communications Coordinator at the National Security Council, John Kirby, said this.

"The President really believes that as we approach the winter, when we enter a new phase of this war and Putin's aggression, now the best time for two leaders to go face-to-face and talk," he said. The talks of two leaders are expected to focus on continuing US military and economic assistance, as well as maintaining sanctions against Russia and supporting the Ukrainian people. John Kirby also said that Biden and Zelensky would discuss how war with Russia can end.

"I have no doubt that they will talk about the presentation of President Zelensky about the" just world "and how it looks, what its components and how we can help Ukraine achieve this," the US representative said. He noted that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is aware of the risks he is exposed to Ukraine. For its part, the US is working to ensure that the Ukrainian President's trip is safe.

"We are working in close contact with him and his staff to make sure we can safely make this trip, both to the United States and back. We will continue to maintain his travel needs, as far as possible," he said. Kirby was also unable to answer when the Patriot missile defense system would be put into effect on the territory of Ukraine. "Our troops need a lot of time to learn how to manage them. So we will have to consider it all," he said.
