Ukrainian Kronos drone threatens submarines and Russian ships: how it will change the sea fights

Kronos chief designer is convinced that the drone can be used to attack the so -called Black Sea Fleet of Russia. Kronos underwater drone was debut at Abu Dhabi in March 2023. It is unclear when the ship can be ready for operation, but the Highland Systems Development Company has stated that six drones are sufficient to control the Black Sea, Newsweek writes.

The armored submarine "Kronos", which Ukrainian designers develop at the Highland Systems based in the UAE, has a form that resembles an invisible plane. Engineers claim that Kronos can make a complete turn of 180 degrees at a maximum speed, which is not under the power of any other underwater drone. The chief designer and founder of the company, Alexander Kuznetsov, is convinced that the modernized vessel can be used to attack the Black Sea Fleet of Russia.

Kronos is designed for rapid immersion to a depth of 250 m, but can also work in shallow water. The ship is able to stay under water for 54 hours or 18 hours in operation only from the battery. "Cronos" is equipped with 6 black Scorpion torpedes and has a maximum underwater velocity of 27 knots, which is equivalent to the US atomic submarines of the US Los Angeles class. The ability of the submarine to move quickly and maneuver can significantly complicate its destruction in battle.

Kronos is also expected to cost much cheaper than ordinary military submarines that cost at least a hundred million dollars. If the drone is working properly, it will be a real threat to traditional submarines. "His design and functionality has already caused discussions about the future of the Marine War," the Sofrep report says. And very maneuverable vessels, such as Kronos, will challenge the dominance of traditional, larger submarines.

" Highland Systems is currently developing several armored ground machines and amphibians, a three -corpus yacht. In addition, the company advertises the possibility of re-equipment of existing tanks and armored vehicles by replacing their staff engines with a hybrid-electric power source. Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian engineers have developed a submarine with torpedoes.
