Ukraine introduced sanctions against ten Russians who work for the war and put sports at its service

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed a decree implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the application of sanctions against ten Russian athletes who support the aggression of the Russian Federation, are involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children and illegally visit the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

  This sanctions package was formed on the basis of a petition prepared by the Ukrainian skeleton athlete, a member of the national Olympic team of Ukraine, Vladyslav Geraskevych.

Among the sanctioned persons are those who visited the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions and the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula, publicly justify Russian aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Ukrainian territories, collect funds for the Russian occupiers, and conduct events for Ukrainian children illegally abducted by Russia.
