Prepared an attempt on a defense officer: Russian agent was detained in Kiev (photo, video)

According to the investigation, the suspect set fire to two military cars in the Pechersk district of the capital during the night. The curators promised him $ 3000 but did not pay. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), together with the National Police, detained the agent of Russian special services, who planned an attempt on an officer of one of the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in Kiev. On Tuesday, August 13, the SBU Press Center reports.

According to the investigation, before taking the main task, the agent received two "test" assignments from his curators - to set fire to the cars of the Ukrainian military. According to the communications department of the National Police of Kyiv, the suspect set fire to two military cars in the Pechersk district of the capital during the night. "He shot his actions on video as evidence of the work performed and sent the customer," the police told.

Successfully accomplishing these tasks, he received a new order: to establish a video surveillance for an officer, which should be a preparatory stage before the attempt. However, thanks to the operational actions of the SBU and the National Police, the plans of the attacker were thwarted. He was detained in his house, where he was preparing to install surveillance cameras near the target. At the time of detention, the agent did not have time to complete this task.

The detainee was a 20-year-old resident of Kiev. During the search, he revealed a flammable mixture used for arson of cars, as well as a mobile phone with evidence of his criminal activity. On the basis of the evidence collected, investigators of the SBU have made the detainee under part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning the obstruction of the legitimate activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a special period. He faces up to 8 years in prison.

According to the prosecutor General's Office press service, the investigation found that on August 5, 2024, the suspect received a message from a user who offered him $ 3,000 for a meeting of a car owned by an Armed Forces serviceman or other military formation through Telegram. The man has purchased a meal for ignition in one of the supermarkets. On the way home in the Pechersk district of Kiev, he noticed a dark green Ford car with black license plates, which he decided to set fire to.

Later at night, using the purchased liquid, it poured the hood of the car and set it on fire. He removed the process of arson on his mobile phone, then reported in front of the customer. However, he did not receive the promised payment of the suspect.
