Currently, Russian coal exporters are exploring other export options, but they will be expensive and will require more time for implementation. At the same time, long before the sanctions of the European Union, Russia redirected the supply of coal from Europe to Asia, but now shipowners, who usually reinsure their risks with larger suppliers, can no longer cover such exports. Other exporters, such as Australia, have replaced the volume of Russian coal in Europe.
Kazakhstan helps to cope with coal dependence on the Russian Federation - the country has almost doubled the supply of the European direction. However, coal embargo on the Russian resource has already provoked an increase in prices, which have increased 10 times over the last year. In June 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine banned the export of gas, coal and fuel oil produced in the country in June 2022.
