Russian troops have long been seeking to capture a group of big cities in Donetsk - Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Konstantinovka - and initially tried to conduct a wide operational environment of defense forces in the eastern part of Donetsk region, focusing on Slavic in the spring of 2022.
Ukraine's liberation and further offensive in the north of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the fall of 2022, as well as the Kharkiv counter -attack disrupted the Kremlin's plans for the restoration of offensive operations in the northern outskirts of the Ukrainian "Belt" of Defense. The Russian troops continued the attack on the southern part of the Donetsk region, and many months of effort to capture Bakhmut were made.
But his occupation in May 2023 did not allow Russian troops to create a direct threat to the southern region of Donetsk fortress cities. At the same time, the potential capture of the time Yar will allow Russia to start direct attacks on the southern fortress in the Ukrainian defense zone. The Yar is about seven kilometers from Konstantinovka (the southernmost of the cities mentioned) and about 20 km from Druzhkovka.
Russian troops can begin further offensive operations directly on the Druzhkivka or Konstantinovka after some rest and replenishment of strength, if it is possible to capture the time of ravine. The offensive can also go to Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka (15 km from the time spring) to cut and isolate Konstantinovka from the other part of the defense line. All this depends on the admiration of the city by Russia, which has not yet been resolved.
