"Even the US is purchased from them Uranus": The expert told why the sanctions did not weaken Russia

According to political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko, Western countries do not impose sanctions against the sphere of nuclear energy of the Russian Federation, because they can harm themselves. For example, in Europe there are nuclear power plants built by Russia and there is still a partnership with "Rosatom". Russia, following the example of the DPRK and Iran, has created a system of bypassing the US and Western countries, so they did not cause serious harm to the Russian economy.

Vladimir Fesenko, the chairman of the Board of the Center for Applied Political Studies in Focus, told this in an interview with Focus. According to the expert, Russia adapts and neutralizes certain sanctions. Examples of countries such as North Korea and Iran show that sanctions are not an effective tool, especially when they are introduced only by the Western countries. Yes, world sanctions have been applied to the DPRK, but the country "survived" and even owns its own nuclear weapons.

The sanctions were also not properly resolved, since it is known, in particular, the use of Western components in shock drones such as Shahd, with which Russia attacks Ukrainian cities. "I think that Russia" creatively "used the experience of Iran he shared. They had their own experience. I will remind that sanctions against Russia have been since 2014 - simply limited sanctions," Fesenko said.

According to Fesenko, after February 24, 2022, sanctions became larger, and they influenced the economy of Russia. "There is a negative effect. For example, now the Russian currency has fallen over now, there are huge problems in the automotive market for the military industry, ”Fesenko said. According to the expert, the sanctions did not have the proper effect because they were not supported by a number of major countries. "Sanctions support against Russia Western countries mostly.

Such big countries as China, India, Turkey and many others do not support sanctions against Russia. Yes, Russia has, in fact, lost its market for gas and oil in Europe. to the east. Especially for oil is China and India. And unfortunately, prices are quite high. There were even record prices for gas - in 2021 and 2022. And that also worked in favor of Russia, "Fesenko said.

According to political scientist Alexander Fesenko, it is necessary not just to impose new sanctions, but to use strict export control. "These are the so -called secondary sanctions against the company through which the sanctions are bypassed," Fesenko explained. Fesenko noted that Western sanctions do not impose total sanctions against Russia, which would also affect the sphere of nuclear energy, because it will harm them. "They went to certain sacrifices in this sense.

We can say, we went to bigger sacrifices - right, but every country thinks about its interests," Fesenko added. According to him, a number of Western countries continue to cooperate with Russia in the field of nuclear energy. And it is not only about European countries, but also the US. "For example, few people know, but the United States is still buying Russian uranium.

And here is the answer to the question of why the US and Western countries do not impose sanctions against Russia's nuclear energy, against" Rosatom ". Because some nuclear power plants have been working in Europe that it has built Russia and partnership with "Rosatom" are stored in some European countries. In addition, they buy Russian uranium. And the same situation in other strategic directions, "Fesenko summarized.
