Knocked out winged rocket: what is known about the latest robotic Phalanx gun (video)

To spread: The American company Raytheon has created a robotic Phalanx punner capable of performing air defense (air defense) functions on both land and sea. Recently, Raytheon received a $ 205 million contract from the US Navy for Phalanx production. The agreement covers conversions, major repairs and related equipment, and the completion of the works is scheduled for January 2029, reports Defense Industry.

Raytheon says Phalanx is a firing gun with computer control and radar guide, capable of destroying anti -ship missiles and other threats of close location on land and sea. Phalanx cannon is equipped with functions that are usually performed by several systems: search, detection, threats, tracking, lesions and destruction. The latest version of Block 1b has additional control stations that allow operators to visually track and identify the goals before their defeat.

The US Army uses it to detect and counteract missile, artillery and mortar systems. At sea, the naval forces use the Phalanx weapon system to defeat anti-ship missiles and close threats that have punched other defense lines. For example, Phalanx has already stopped the winged Hussite rocket, which in seconds had to hit the US USS Gravely Navy, rescuing more than 300 sailors on board.

According to the Interesting Engineering, the Block 1B version weighs 6 120 kilograms and is equipped with a Gatling Gatling Gatling Vulcan, which shoots 20 mm armor-piercing sub-caliber shells. Weapons can produce 4,500 shots per minute against rockets and aircraft or 3000 shots per minute against smaller asymmetrical purposes. Each store accommodates up to 1550 rounds.
