The T-80BM is a modernized version of the T-80BV tank, which is distinguished by improved weapons, protection and mobility. These improvements make the T-80BM a valuable asset in armored operations. According to Army Recognition Observatives, a shallow tank indicates a continuing struggle, which they face the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in counteracting the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.
The tank itself, with its modernized characteristics, represents a considerable battle power, and its admiration for the Ukrainian forces is a tactical success. In September 2023, the Armed Forces of Russia presented an updated version of the main combat tank T-80BM. This model was developed on the basis of the experience gained during the conflict in Ukraine. The version includes several modifications aimed at improving both protection and combat capabilities.
