China's rockets and drones: Taiwan develops a 50 kW laser weapon

Scientists have come to the conclusion that the laser system can be effective against the drones of the Chengdu GJ-1 series, rockets and even balloons. The Taiwanese National Institute of Science and Technology of Zhong-Shang (NCSIST) develops laser weapons with a capacity of 50 kW. The installation will be used to combat the enemy's air purposes, writes Tho Defense Post. The laser can be installed on CM-32 Clouded Leopard armored vehicles.

According to a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan, weapons will have sufficient power for various combat use. The official also stated that the Taiwanese military would immediately take into account the system, only protest it, given the increasing tension in relations with China. It is known that last year NCSist created a low -power prototype of laser weapons, which can be installed on a military car.

But a complete prototype will be presented by the end of this year for testing and demonstration. Before undertaking laser development for the military, scientists from NCSIST investigated the combat potential of the weapons of the directional energy that operates together with the air defense. They also studied how these weapons can supplement traditional air defense systems that are expensive and can be easily suppressed by enemy drones.

As a result, the researchers have come to the conclusion that the laser system can be effective against Chinese drones of the ChengDU GJ-1 series, missiles and PRC balloons. Taibey is not acting alone in the development of weapons of a powerful energy of 50 kW against the threats that arise, reported Taipei Times, citing a high -ranking representative of the Ministry of Defense.

According to him, Taiwanese developers have achieved considerable success in a relatively short period of time due to technological assistance of "foreign friends". The official did not mention which countries had helped the island in the creation of laser weapons, but perhaps he was referring to the United States, which had achieved a significant breakthrough in the development of this type of weapons. Earlier, we reported that in the United States came up with laser weapons with recharge.
