She sang - she was put on trial: in Russia, a student was punished for "oppositional" songs

Share: In St. Petersburg, the court found an 18-year-old street musician guilty of "discrediting" the army by performing protest songs. Earlier, the girl was already arrested for the song of the rapper Noize MC. As Reuters reports, a court in St. Petersburg fined 18-year-old musician Diana Loginova, known by her stage name Naoko, 30,000 rubles (15,786 UAH) for allegedly "discrediting" the Russian army.

The girl performs with her band Stoptime and became famous after her performance of the song "Swan Lake Cooperative" by the rapper Noize MC gained millions of views on social networks. Loginova was detained on October 15 after a speech on Nevsky Prospekt, accused of organizing an unauthorized assembly. She served 13 days of administrative arrest. Later, another case was brought against her - for performing another song called "You are a soldier", which the authorities recognized as anti-war.

After the court session, Loginova was not released — she was again taken away by police officers in a civilian car. The author of the song "You are a soldier" is the singer Monetochka, who currently lives abroad. Last year, the Russian authorities declared her wanted and included her in the list of "foreign agents". The anti-Kremlin artist Noize MC, whose song was previously performed by Loginova, has been living in Lithuania for a long time.

In Russia, his compositions were banned, accused of "hostile attitude towards people" and "calls for a violent change of power". Another street musician from Yekaterinburg, Yevhen Mykhaylov, received a similar punishment last week. He was arrested for 14 days after performing Noize MC songs in support of Loginova.
