To spread: the Slovak Republic will never support the Repowereu initiative, which provides for the rejection of European Union countries from Russian gas from January 1, 2028. The letter with the corresponding message by the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo sent to the president of the European Commission Ursula von Der Lyen, Fitzo reported on the social network H. My position as the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic on this issue is consistent and should not be unexpected for someone," Fitzo said. He called the said EU initiative "sanction" and stressed that it naturally binds it to the 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to him, voting on the 18th package can only take place after the significant risks associated with the Repowreu in the field of gas supply since 2028.

Fitzo stressed that this initiative is not supported by Slovak opposition parties and business: they say, so he appealed to von der Liaien "use the coming hours and days to continue the dialogue between the Slovakia government and the European Commission. " July 2025. By that time, the Slovak Republic will insist on delaying the voting on the 18th package of sanctions, "Fitzo said in a letter.
