Russian mortars 2C41 "Drk": what is known about weapons, and whether it is used in Ukraine

According to Polish observer Adam Svirkovsky, the Russian mortar has not yet completed the trial process. Moreover, it still needs to develop tactics of application. In the summer of 2023, the Russian corporation "Rostek" announced the tests of the first batch of mortar system 2C41 "DKK" in the territory of Ukraine.

And in early February, Russian propagandists said that the weapons had already received the first reviews after the use of installations on the front line and prepared for their modernization. About whether the "Drk" could get to the Ukrainian Front and what this weapon system was told in Defense 24. According to him, the recipients of the Drock systems were likely to be the Airborne Troops (Air Force), who were to receive 2C41 as early as 2021, when they were announced on the beginning of their serial production. "However, there are no photos or videos that the Russians have tested their system in combat conditions," the observer emphasized, in addition, the system has not yet completed the test process, so it needs to be improved at end users' requests and to develop tactics.

2C41 "DKK" is a Russian self-propelled mortar installation of 82 mm caliber, which is mounted on the armored personnel carrier K-4386 "Typhoon-VDV" with protection against mines and ambassadors (MRAP). The complex is intended for deployment in the units of the Airborne Troops. It is equipped with a 450-horsepower diesel engine connected to a 9-speed gearbox. The machine can move at a maximum road speed above 100 km/h, and the maximum margin is 1000 km.

The main weapon is 82 mm 2B24 mortar, located in the turmoil, located in the back of the machine. The target range is 6,000 meters, and the ammunition is 64 grenades. In this case, the system rate is up to 20 shots per minute. The complement to it is a universal 7. 62-mm PCM machine gun in an unmanned combat module located in the front of the roof of the machine.

The mortar is equipped with a digital fire control system (OTO) with an optical-electronic sight, which allows the crew to fire from a mortar module without leaving the car. It is also possible to conduct mortar fire from the soil, for this purpose a separate mortar 2B24 caliber 82 mm is included. The total ammunition is 40 mines stored in the combat department.
