The Kremlin probably released this meeting to present Putin as thoroughly involved in the planning and warfare in Ukraine. This may be due to the fact that recently representatives of nationalist communities have sharply criticized the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry and Putin personally for the state of affairs at the front.

The Kremlin probably deliberately published the participation of Gerasimov, Shoigh and Surovikin in a meeting with Putin to represent the Russian Defense Ministry as an organized, only and effective combat structure and protect the highest military command from further criticism against the background of lack of victory of the Russian army in Ukraine.

Commenting on the Kremlin's actions, military experts believe that attempts to rehabilitate the image of the military leadership of the Russian Federation are carried out in order to balance the growing influence of "Kadyrivs" and "Wagner", which according to some Russian "military" are now the most capable groups on the front. The Kremlin is likely to see Putin as a leader who maintains connection with the Russian people.

For this purpose, the governors of the regions were instructed to prepare a "positive agenda" news and events in which Putin can participate. Experts also noted that in this way Putin wanted to present as a "good news newsletter" against the background of reducing the social well -being of citizens and their fatigue from the war.

However, such prospects are ghostly, according to ISW, since the lack of real meaningful dialogue between the authorities and citizens of the Russian Federation creates an image for the Ministry of Defense, which the Russian nationalists called the "Russian Ministry of Camouflage Selfie".
