Russian attack on Bornholm Island: Denmark Intelligence told NATO Threat

The planes and ships of the Russian Federation can provoke provocations against Denmark, said Defense Minister Trols Lund Pulxy. You also need to prepare for the extension of the Russian Armed Forces. Russian troops accumulate forces to threaten the Baltic countries, as well as other NATO member countries. However, the Kremlin is unlikely to dare to attack Denmark, but you need to be prepared for provocations.

The possible threat of Russian attack was discussed in explaining the Defense Minister Trols Lund Pulzin during a meeting with parliamentarians. The Fersvarets EfterRetningstJenest (Fe) was published on the department portal. Danish deputies wondered why on military maps some of Denmark, such as Skne, Blacking, Gotland, Bornholm, marked in red. In particular, whether this means that there is a threat of direct attack of the Russian Federation.

In response, parliamentarians heard that there was no direct threat to these islands, separately - Burnholm. As of February 2024, Moscow does not have enough military forces to transfer them to the Baltic Sea and attack a NATO member country. However, the minister stressed that Russia continues to intensify troops. Among other things, she plans to create new units in the Baltic States.

"The Russian Federation is in the process of large-scale increase in military force and this will also include the creation of new units in the Baltic Sea and in the northwestern part of the country. " The official noted that the Kremlin could carry out provocations below the boundary of the NATO military response. In particular, it is a "violation of national territorial borders by military aviation, or the emergence of warships, or the use of a hydrolocker, or the increase of troops.

" As a result, the Russians are still "avoiding" with NATO clashes, but the situation is shaky. "However, it is also very likely that Russia intends to use its military power to challenge NATO countries outside Article 5," the Minister Troels Lund Polesen summed up. Bornholm is an island in the Baltic Sea, located 300 km west of Russian Kaliningrad. Next to the island pass the threads of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, which in the fall of 2022 was undermined by unknown persons.

According to the intermediate results of the investigation, some signs of the incident indicate the possible involvement of Ukrainian special services. Gotland is an island 300 km north. This island was mentioned by a member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Igor Korotchenko in January 2022: he "planned" how the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was occupied. The statement Korotchenko was heard on the Russian propagandist Skabeva, the media reported.

It should be noted that Denmark has joined the assistance to Ukraine after a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation in 2022. In particular, Focus wrote earlier about how this country accepted Ukrainian refugees who were running away from Russian aggression. In December 2023, the Danish Minister stated that after the war it would be desirable that these people had returned home.

At the same time, the media reported that there are almost a billion euros to be allocated for Ukraine support in 2024. In the summer of 2023, Denmark joined the aircraft coalition, which was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to previous agreements, this country will provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 42 F-16 fighters: it was expected that they would come in the spring of 2024.
