The occupiers are likely not to capture more Ukrainian territories in the coming months - ISW

The invaders will probably not be able to allocate enough resources for any one offensive operation and will not be able to seize more in the coming months. About it writes the American Institute for War Research (ISW). The Institute notes that Russian offensive operations in the East probably exhausted the momentum they acquired at the end of July.

The Russians are not capable of gaining previous success around Bakhmut and Avdiivka, which is an example of a more fundamental Russian military problem - the inability to turn tactical successes into operational success. The Russian forces were constantly not able to use tactical breakthroughs to maneuver into the rear areas or to fail a large part of the Ukrainian defense borders.

Therefore, they constantly give Ukrainians time to tactically leave the battle and restore defensive positions against which the Russians should start new attacks. Video Day ISW writes that this is a drawback that will probably prevent Russia from achieving significant territorial successes in the coming months, except that there will be serious changes in the battlefield.

It is noted that the Russians carried out some unsuccessful land storms to the southwest and southeast of Izium, the ground offensive southeast of Siversk and northeast and south of Bakhmut. Russian troops have achieved limited success to the west of Donetsk, but did not carry out land attacks in the direction of the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions. Russian troops continued to attack settlements to the northwest and southwest of Avdiivka.
