Time in exchange for land or blows on the Russian Federation: why the "deep battle" strategy will bring Ukraine a victory

To spread: The retired brigade General Mark T. Kimitt called for Moscow's latest provocations against NATO as part of the Kremlin's single strategy and rethink the current defense doctrine in favor of percussion opportunities in the deep enemy. In The Wall Street Journal, the expert indicates that the "active defense" strategy repeats the mistakes of the past: space exchange does not lead to victory for a while, but only stretches the conflict.

The author proposes to return to Airland Battle approaches, the concept designed for strike points, logistics and enemy reserves. Kimmitt emphasizes that in the 1980s the United States was invested in reconnaissance, facilities and long-range weapons (ATACMS, AH-64 Apache helicopters, A-10 assault rifle and other means of lesions) to implement these ideas.

According to the author, modernized versions of these means are already present on the Ukrainian battlefield, but political decisions limit its full potential and cannot prevent Putin from replenishing his army with millions of artillery shells, thousands of military personnel, as well as fuel, spare parts and food.

Thus, the author of the article indicates, one of the main problems remains political restrictions on the use of foreign systems-decisions on range and goals are often made not by commanders on site, but bureaucrats from all-Union countries, which reduces operational efficiency.

This problem was partially reflected in recent publications that the Pentagon has blocked the use of some long -range Ukraine's use of Ukraine for some time, although reports of removal of individual restrictions were periodically emerging. "If the event is seriously tuned to victory, it must allow Ukraine to fight the advancing troops, isolate the Russian forces on the forefront and create the conditions for offensive operations.

It is not a new strategy, but the one that was called from the first months of the war," the general emphasizes. We will remind, military expert Sergey Zgurets focused on a key factor that determines Ukraine's ability to strike for deep purposes of the Russian Federation. According to him, now two components are important - qualitative intelligence, in particular from partners, as well as long -range weapons, including domestic samples.
