On November 25, the UK Ministry of Defense has chosen L3harris Technologies, whose radios meet the requirements of the army. Within the contract of £ 90 million ($ 103 million), the company will supply more than 1,300 portable AN/PRC-167. They will be replaced by outdated AN/PRC-152 and AN/PRC-117G radio stations, which have been operating in the army for over 10 years.
During the execution of the contract, the British military will use both variants of radio stations to have prompt compatibility with international partners, as well as to improve land and tactical satellite communications. According to the sources of the publication, the decision was made because the L3harris Technologies stated at the Armed Forces shows a high level of reliability. They allow the fighters to keep the connection despite all the attempts of the Russian Federation.
The company claims that new radio stations will allow the armies to apply various concepts in operations. The first supplies of AN/PRC-163 and 167 are expected by the end of the year.
