Russian warehouses are devastated but Putin will not translate the economy to military rails - isw

In order to support the war in Ukraine, Russia consumes huge reserves of equipment and other equipment of the Soviet times, because the Russian defense is not capable of providing urgent needs. Despite the fact that the satellite data indicate the depletion of armored vehicles in the warehouses of the Russian Federation, Russian President Vladimir Putin will not translate the economy of the aggressor state to military rails.

This is stated in the report of the American Institute of War Study (ISW) of May 7, 2024. "Russia is currently maintaining its military efforts at the expense of removal from warehouses, not by large -scale production of new vehicles and certain types of weapons," the report reads.

Institute analysts mentioned the publication of Newsweek, which stated that satellite images show that the number of Russian warehouses of equipment decreased significantly compared to the pre -war level by almost 32%: from 15 152 in 2021 to 10 389 as of May 2024 . In particular, Russia has removed battle armored vehicles from its warehouses - 922 were left one out of 2 527 pre -war.

In addition, the warehouses became less: "About half of the artillery systems remaining on this base are most likely not suitable for use due to improper storage and that many of them are artillery systems of World War II, which are incompatible with Modern ammunition, "the report reads.

ISW explained that Russia is entrusted to huge reserves of equipment and other Soviet era equipment to maintain operations and losses in Ukraine at a level much higher than the current Russian defense fund can provide. "Russia will probably try to adequately provide its units with material means in the long run without transferring the Russian economy to military rails - a step that was still tried to avoid Russian President Vladimir Putin," - said analysts of the American Institute.
