Responsible for Rape in Ukraine: Russian officers got under EU sanctions

According to journalists, the European Union included in the black list of officers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Mykola Kuznetsov and Ramily Ibatullin, whose units are involved in sexual violence in Ukraine in the first months of a full -scale war. On Tuesday, March 7, the European Union imposed sanctions on two commanders of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which are involved in acts of sexual violence in Ukraine.

It is about Nikolai Kuznetsov and Ramila Ibatullin, Reuters writes. According to journalists, Mykola Kuznetsov participated in a full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, and fighters from his unit "systematically participated in acts of sexual violence and rape in Ukraine in March/April 2022". Ramil Ibatullin also headed the Department of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation involved in "sexual and gender violence against the civilian population of Ukraine".

It is noted that the introduction of such restrictions is the first case of the use of EU powers, approved in 2020 in order to bring to justice persons who violated human rights. Two police officers, two participants in the Taliban organization, some persons in Myanmar and South Sudan, as well as the Iranian women's prison Gutchak, are also included in the sacrifice list.

The full list of those who have been included in the EU's black list in connection with sexual abuse and other human rights violations will be published in the European Union's official journal by March 8. "Introducing these sanctions, we send to the criminals a clear signal that their crimes will not get off their hands. These horrible, inhuman actions have consequences. It is also a signal to victims: the EU will support you where you are," the Foreign Minister said Netherlands Vopke Gucstra.

Within the limits of sanctions, all assets of suspects in the EU will be frozen. In addition, sub -persons will no longer be able to get into the EU territory and use the services of European companies. According to the first lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya, at least 171 citizens of Ukraine raped at least during the full -scale war, of whom 13 children and 39 men.

Elena Zelenska mentioned the case in the Kherson region, when the Russian serviceman repeatedly raped a 62-year-old woman, threatening her with weapons, told about two families from the Kiev region who survived sexual violence from the occupiers, as well as a woman from Svetue. The first lady noted that all victims were given psychological help.
