Electronic warfare expert Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov told about this in an interview with Defense Express. According to the expert's assessment, the main role in the anti-drone network is played by the Russian SKVP radar - "Airspace Control System", manufactured by the company "Vysokotochnye Kompleks".
According to observers, it has the following technical characteristics: It is noteworthy that the enemy mostly places devices 5-7 km from the front line, usually in lowlands and landings for camouflage, and does not install these radars on high objects - roofs, towers, etc. This makes it difficult to detect, "Flash" noted. The fact is that the Russian system is rather miniature and emits little heat, which makes it extremely difficult to detect it with the help of a thermal imager.
So it remains only to detect the power cables (the radar consumes approximately 1 kW), or to record the activity of the personnel. In addition to SKVP, there are also other Russian radars - "Raduga", "Repeynyk", and Chinese FSTH-LD02/LD03 stations are used in a number of areas. But according to the scale of the survey and the density of deployment, the SCVP is the main means of combating Ukrainian reconnaissance UAVs.
The consequences of the complex use of such radars for the Armed Forces can be tangible. The fact is that the loss of a significant part of tactical intelligence behind enemy lines, the concentration of troops, their movement and routes - complicates the targeting of high-precision weapons of systems such as HIMARS and reduces the ability to deliver timely strikes. Because the effectiveness of modern damage systems depends heavily on accurate and up-to-date coordinates.
