Kremlin failure: Putin wanted to capture Donbas by September 15, but was collapsed - Pentagon

Russia has not managed to achieve its strategic goals in Ukraine during the full -scale war. But the struggle is far from completing, the US Defense Ministry is considered. Russian President Vladimir Putin planned to seize the Donetsk region by September 15, but the Kremlin suffered another defeat. Instead, Ukrainian troops conducted a successful counter -offensive in the East. This was stated by a high -ranking official of the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon website reports.

"On September 1, President Putin urged to transfer the entire Donetsk region under the control of Russia by September 15. But Putin's forces were clearly unable to succeed," the official said in particular. At the same time, the Armed Forces were able to liberate the territory with a total size of two American states-Delaware (5. 1 thousand km²) and Rod Island (3. 1 thousand km²), he stressed.

"The Ukrainian military has caused significant losses to the Russian troops who invaded the country, and we see how the Kremlin is increasingly trying to find new recruits to replenish their thinned benches," the official continued. However, the position in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is so shaky that the counter -offensive of the Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region forced many Russian volunteers to refuse to participate in hostilities.

The American official, as an example, cited a video with the Wagner ChVK curator Yevgeny Prigoginy, where he tries to recruit prisoners for war in Ukraine. "Our information indicates that a private military company is suffering great losses in Ukraine, especially, not surprisingly, among young and inexperienced fighters," he added. According to the Pentagon, the Russians really advanced in the Donbass, but only a few hundred meters.

However, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, since such shelling does not have any military sense. "We all know that this struggle is far from completing," the Ministry of Defense official said. He also noted that Ukraine should continue to support the United States and other partners to continue to fight for its freedom. We will remind, on September 1 Russia again postponed the timing of the capture of Donbass.
