The singer "without unnecessary noise" replaced the document and then sent new data to the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation. This was required of Lorak by the law so that she can continue to give concerts in Russia. On January 1, 2021, the law stated that Ukrainians may change their patronymic name.

The website of the State Migration Service states that the passport of the citizen of Ukraine in the format of the card, among other things, is introduced. Accordingly, the law of the natural person consists of a surname, own name and patronymic. Lorak decided to update the passport against the backdrop of the news that she seeks to obtain Russian citizenship.

According to Mash, it was preparing to obtain a Russian passport since the fall of 2022, when personal sanctions in Ukraine were imposed against it. The singer's intentions became known in March 2024. She has not performed at home since 2017, building a career in Russia.
