According to Russian journalists, the officer is suspected of treason, as he allegedly knew about the preparation of the rebellion of the head of PEC "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigogine and helped to realize it. A number of Russian media reported that Russia's military-cosmic forces Sergei Surovikin was allegedly placed in a pre-trial detention center. In particular, on June 28, this was reported in the Telegram channel "Spy Dossier" with reference to its sources.

According to media source, Surovikina was detained on the evening of June 27 and placed in the Lefortovo detention center in Moscow. It is reported that Surovikin's company in the pre-trial detention center was made by his deputy-Colonel-General Andriy Yudin. Another Russian propagandist "Romanov Light" claims that Surovikin was detained allegedly on June 25.

According to Roszmi, Surovik knew about the preparation of the rebellion of the founder of the Wagner PEC "Yevgeny Prigogine" and even contributed to its implementation.
