The Russian Federation develops new high -precision cartridges 12.7 mm, but there is a nuance (photo)

The new ball, according to the Russian Federation, should punch light armored vehicles up to 2 km. However, journalists point out that one -component cartridges at times increase the wear of the barrel. For the OSV-96 anthmater rifle, the Russian design bureau "CCIB Soo" has developed a new line of high-precision cartridges for large caliber rifles. About it reports the TV channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "Zvezda".

In the report, a representative of the Central Design and Research Bureau of Sports and Hunting Weapons (CCIB SOO) spoke about the development of ammunition for the Anthimatal Rifle OSV-96 caliber 12. 7x108 mm. It is noted that two new cartridges have been created. The occupiers claim that high accuracy was achieved through the use of a single -component ball design, which is driven from a whole piece of metal.

This disappears unbalance of the ball during the flight that occurs in ordinary multicomponent balls with a core. The characteristics of the cartridge should allow to punch light armored vehicles up to 1500-2000 meters. Separately, the report stated that another armor -pierce was created on the base of the 12. 7x108 mm, which could allegedly affect the Western sample armored vehicles with increased protection at a distance of 100 meters.

However, "militaristic" states that the transition to one -component steel balls has its disadvantages. In particular, the barrel is at times faster. The multicomponent ball has a copper shell together with a solid core. This provides a "soft" passage of the ball through the barrel channel. Therefore, a new ammunition will lead to a rapid fall in accuracy and weapon.
