"The Russian military command may have relocated limited units designed to strengthen Russia's priority operation in the Pokrovsky direction, to protect against the Ukrainian invasion in the Kursk region," the report reads. Analysts have explained that this indicates that the operational pressure of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region affects Russian operations in other areas of the front.
ISW also noted that relocated units were probably reserve units that the Russian military command intended to use to strengthen the Russian group in the Pokrovsky and Toretsky directions. "The relocation of limited elements of the 15th and 1st motorized rifle crews will not have an immediate impact on the situation on the battlefield in the Pokrovsky or Toretsky directions, as these are small forces," the report said.
According to experts, the redeployment of these units indicates that the Russian military command could not completely isolate its priority offensive operations in Donetsk region from the needs of living force caused by the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region.
"The Russian military command still avoided the redeployment of forces intended for offensive operations in the Toretsky or Pokrovsky directions, to participate in defense operations in the Kursk region, and by this time mainly overturned forces from less priority directions - the Northern Kharkiv region, the Cut line Yansk - Svatovo - Kreminna and Western part of the Zaporizhzhya region, " - said in ISW.
