Poland closes the Russian Consulate in Krakow: What is the reason

To spread: the Polish authorities decided to close the Russian Consulate General in Krakow. It happened after the involvement of Russian special services in the arson of the Marywilska shopping center in Warsaw. This was reported by the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorsky on the social network X on Monday, May 12.

"Having evidence that it was the Russian special services that made a shameful sabotage act against the shopping center on Maryville Street, I decided to withdraw permission to open the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Krakow," he wrote. On May 12, 2024, a large -scale fire occurred in Warsaw in the Marwilian 44. The flames destroyed almost the entire building, but fortunately, no one was injured.

Subsequently, the Polish special services reported the detention of three people suspected of organizing a sabotage in favor of the Russian Federation. We will remind, on May 11, 2025 the Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk stated that the arson of the Marywilska shopping center in Warsaw was committed at the Kremlin's order. According to him, some culprits were already detained by Polish law enforcement.
