As pro-Russian Telegram channels inform, a fire broke out on the territory of the Luhansk TPP, which caused an emergency power outage in Luhansk and in the territories of the region under the control of the Russian Federation. The occupation authorities did not confirm the fact that the energy facility was hit. According to the message of the "Novosti LNR" Telegram channel, the energy infrastructure suffered large-scale damage.
"A major accident on power grids has left most municipalities of the LPR without power. Energy workers have already restored power to the majority of consumers and social facilities, work continues," the channel's administrators said. The message also states that power outages led to the temporary shutdown of boiler houses and water supply pumping stations. "Utility services are on the ground and will start the systems immediately after the stable restoration of power supply," the post says.
Another Telegram channel with reference to the leader of the occupation administration, Leonid Pasichnyk, said that the situation was related to an accident. "The outages occurred due to an accident on the power grids. Power engineers are already working on the spot, connecting the territory to reserve lines. Most of the 'LPR' has electricity again: socially significant objects were first asked, now stabilization of the situation is underway in all cities," the message states.
At the time of publication, there were no official confirmations from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about the Luhansk TPP hit. We will remind you that the city of Shchastya in the Luhansk region was occupied by Russian troops at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine in 2022. Luhansk TPP is one of the key energy facilities in the region, access to which was lost after the occupation.
