People's deputy and head of the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, reported this on Facebook, who previously asked the NPU about possible connections of the cartoon "Masha and the Bear" with the Russian Federation. "In response to the appeal, the National Police pointed out possible connections with the Russian Federation. The official resources of the cartoon point to a link to a page on the VK social network (blocked in Ukraine).
The site itself is located on the domain of the Russian Federation. But during the transition, it is redirected to an allegedly neutral domain, without any connection to Russia," the message reads. Yurchyshyn notes that the cartoon has a Ukrainian translation, but it is only an adaptation of the content. "Imperial narratives have not disappeared: The Times compares Masha with Putin and points out that this can be the soft power of the Russian Federation.
There is also a purely economic factor: money from monetization goes to the Russian animation studio," the parliamentarian explains.
According to him, in the appeal, he was informed that in case of sanctions against the cartoon, the National Police is ready to take part in restricting content in Ukraine, and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has written a letter for the implementation of the Security Service, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, the NSDC, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ICRC and other departments.
"Cartoons are a huge field of work, where the Russian Federation enters in order to break into the brains of our children. Parents often do not pay attention to the fact that they turn on the children on YouTube. We must clear this field of Russian content and stimulate the creation of our product. Because, as we can see, propaganda enters absolutely everywhere it can do it," the deputy emphasized.
Yaroslav Yurchyshyn recalled that earlier YouTube expert Olga Tyschuk-Volska and media hygiene specialist Oksana Moroz found markers of propaganda in the cartoon "Masha and the Bear": the girl always remains unpunished and appears in several episodes in a Soviet cap and a tankman's cap. "Militarization, starting from an early age, is a common story for the Russian Federation," they state.
As an alternative to the content produced by the Russian Federation, Yurchyshyn offers the "Brobax" application from "Public Broadcasting" — a digital platform for children's content, which contains more than 250 hours of children's content: animated series and full-length cartoons, educational children's shows, cartoons in sign language and a catalog of audio fairy tales. Earlier it was reported that the author of the animation "Mavka.
