Will be affected by the first: Russian diplomat threatened Finland in case of "threats" NATO

According to Kremlin representative Mikhail Ulyanov, strengthening cooperation between the US and Finland in the defense is a potential danger to the Russian Federation. A representative of the Russian Federation under international organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov noted that Finland will face the negative consequences, first of all, if there is an increase in tension between NATO and Russia. He reported this in a comment to the Russian edition "RIA Novosti".

"They lived calmly, peacefully and unexpectedly found themselves between Russia and NATO as an integral part of the Alliance, but they are neighbors with us, and God forbid, if some exacerbation, then the Finland itself will be affected first," Ulyanov said. He also noted that for him a "serious challenge" is to strengthen cooperation between the US and Finland in the field of defense, as it opens access to the US military to facilities in the country.

Finland entered NATO this year after it retained a neutral status for decades, and this, according to Russia, turned Helsinki into an enemy player. Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin accused NATO that the Alliance allegedly creates a conflict, despite Moscow's unwillingness to spoil relations. The US and Finland signed a Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) on Monday, December 18.
