Water supply, health care and finances: Russian hackers attack Poland because of help with Ukraine

Krzysztof Gavkovsky, Digital Minister in the New Government of Donald Tusk, said that the number of cyberattacks from the Russian Federation is doubled every year. Therefore, the Polish government is forced to create a "cybernetic shield" and significantly increase cyber -safety expenditures. Krzysztof Gavkovsky, Viceremier-Minister-Minister of Digitalization of Poland is in Ukraine with an official visit and has already met with Ukrainian colleague Mikhail Fedorov.

The parties agreed to develop the IT industry, artificial intelligence, e-government, coordinate the work of "Actions" and Polish Mobywatel. But they talked about cyberattacks from Russia, which, according to Gavkovsky, intensified recently. He gave the interview about it "economic truth". According to the Polish Digitalization Minister, Poland is now the country that Russians are most attacked in cyberspace.

"It can be said that Poland is in a state of cold cyberwar with Russia," the minister said. He said that the number of cyberattacks is doubled every year, forcing the Polish government to create a "cyber shield. " Poland had to significantly increase cyber -safety expenditures, and the experience of Ukraine was assisted in this matter, which demonstrates that there is no boundary in strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure.

Krzysztof Gavkovsky added that Polish specialists constantly record the efforts of the Russians to strike critical infrastructure, including water supply systems, health and finance sectors. Russian hackers also attack government resources and local authorities. According to him, the reason is that Poland is a big hub in the supply of weapons for Ukraine, so Russia is most interested in military support data.

"A logistics hub in Rzeszow is near the border with Ukraine under special cyber defense," the minister said. Despite the constant strengthening of protection, the Polish authorities have already recorded cases of breaking the system. The safety of these systems is currently high. He also mentioned the cooperation of Poland and Ukraine in the field of digital services.

One of the directions of cooperation that has been signed by Fedorov's signed memorandum is the deployment of datentables of Ukrainian agencies in Poland. Gavkovsky did not say which registers will be stored in Poland. The Ministry of Defense noted that there is a datental of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, which the neighboring state built on preferential terms. Earlier, Focus wrote about how Russian hackers can steal information about the Armed Forces through WhatsApp and how to prevent it.
