It is mainly about citizens of the Russian Federation who, through the war, decided to deal with this issue. "Due to the sharp increase in the number of requests for Moldovan citizenship, the Office asks the Government to extend the term of consideration of applications up to six months instead of the current 20 days," the government said.
The material was added separately that the geopolitical situation in the region, which was formed by the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine, played a major role in the issue of Moldova's citizenship. Among those who want to obtain citizenship of one of the poorest countries of the European continent, 70% - Russians and 20% are Ukrainians. However, there are no more specific data on the number of applications yet.
