According to representatives of the government agency, the number of requests for the Moldavian passport has only increased recently. It is mainly about citizens of the Russian Federation who, through the war, decided to deal with this issue. "Due to the sharp increase in the number of requests for Moldovan citizenship, the Office asks the Government to extend the term of consideration of applications up to six months instead of the current 20 days," the government said.
The material was added separately that the geopolitical situation in the region, which was formed by the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine, played a major role in the issue of Moldova's citizenship. Among those who want to obtain citizenship of one of the poorest countries of the European continent, 70% - Russians and 20% are Ukrainians. However, there are no more specific data on the number of applications yet.
We will remind, on November 28 it was reported that President of Moldova May Sandu deprived the citizenship of the pro -Russian politician Alexander Kalinin. The reason for deprivation of citizenship was the appeal to the President of the Russian Federation Putin on behalf of Kishinev in order to support the occupation actions of the Russian army. On October 23, it was reported that the Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleb supported the idea of dual citizenship in Ukraine.
