"The Language of the Occupants": In the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy forbidden to speak Russian

According to Gennady Zubko, a member of the Supervisory Board, the new rules will apply to teachers, students, and NaUKMA administrative staff. At the 40th session of the Academic Conference of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy approved new rules of internal regulations of NaUKMA, according to which it is forbidden to use Russian in the territory of the educational institution. This was stated by a member of the Supervisory Board of the Academy Gennady Zubko on his Facebook page.

"If Russian teaching has not been conducted at the university for a very long time, now the prohibition also concerns communication with each other in the language of the invaders in Mogilyanka," Zubko writes. The author also noted that new rules apply to teachers, students, as well as administrative staff of a higher education institution. According to Zubko, the management of the Academy pushed "requirements and challenges of time".

"I thank everyone who has joined the development of new rules, which is required by new reality, which today have to work for Ukrainian universities and all educational institutions," - summed up Gennady Zubko. It should be noted that according to Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the state language of Ukraine is Ukrainian. The legislation provides for the free use of other languages.

"In Ukraine, the free development, use and protection of the Russian language and other languages of national minorities of Ukraine is guaranteed," says the text of the 10th article. Article 21 of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state" states that the language of educational process in educational institutions is the state language.
