Weapons against air defense: US begins supplying Ukraine to improved AGM-88E missiles-media

This type of weapons is effective against radar defense complexes. The rocket combines passive detection of radar signals and the presence of a shortwave radar. The United States began to supply Ukraine's advanced anti-radar guided missiles AGM-88E (AARGM). The transmission of these weapons occurred in the original supply of Kiev missiles AGM-88 (HARM), so the Ukrainian forces received a more sophisticated means of combating Russian air defense. This was reported on November 10 by Army Recognition.

This step is an important strengthening of Ukrainian power in the field of radio electronic struggle and suppression of enemy air defense, since AGM-88e is an advanced version with improved accuracy and guidance system that allows to detect and attack Russian SPRC more effectively and attack with C-300 and C 400.

The upgraded version of AGM-88E is different from previous versions of rockets by the presence of a multi-mode search that combines passive detection of radar signals and the presence of a shortwave radar. The passive detection of the rocket allows it to record and track signals coming from radar stations, allowing you to accurately place the radiation source.

And a shortwave radar technology enables the rocket to be given to the target even after the radar installation is switched off, making AGM-88e a more versatile tool than HARM, which requires an active radar for guidance. The rocket also has an improved system of guidance and tracking of goals.

Thanks to the upgraded AGM-88E search engine, it is able to identify and neutralize complex radar systems, which significantly reduces the risks for Ukrainian pilots involved in the missions of air defense. Viewers write that Ukrainian air forces have already proven their ability to adapt Western weapons for use on outdated Soviet aircraft. Earlier, Ukrainian pilots integrated AGM-88 Harm missiles into their MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters.

Despite the differences in compatibility, Ukrainian experts have created creative solutions for the use of Western missiles, including the guidance system using devices such as iPad, which made it possible to overcome the problems of incompatibility. Thus, with the help of AGM-88e, Ukrainian pilots will be able to fulfill missions aimed at detecting, suppressing and destroying radar defense systems.

These missiles give them tactical advantages because they allow them to penetrate the active and less risk of attacking Russian air defense complexes. "Ukraine will continue to integrate complex Western systems, these opportunities are expected to have a significant impact on the battlefield, strengthening Ukraine's sustainability and operational efficiency in a long -term conflict," experts summed up.
