According to him, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly stated that he was ready to start diplomatic talks with the Russian Federation, but for this he should first be ready in the Kremlin. So far, this trend is not traced. "Unfortunately, we see that from the very beginning of this war - even before this war - Russia has never wanted to engage in real diplomacy," the message reads.
In addition, Matthew Miller noted that during a meeting in Saudi Arabia, the world will hear about the destructive consequences of the war that the Russian Federation and their troops brought to peaceful cities. "So, if at some point Russia wants to engage in significant diplomacy - I will not speak on behalf of the President of Ukraine, but he made it clear in the past that he was ready to interact with them on such issues," - summed up the State Department spokesman.
We will remind, on July 30 it was reported that in Saudi Arabia there will be peace talks on Ukraine, where they did not invite the Russian Federation. One of the main goals of the meeting is to involve China in a peaceful formula and to report what is happening to those countries where Russia has more influence than in Ukraine. The meeting can take place on the first weekend of August.
