A well -known coffee manufacturer pays more taxes in the budget of the Russian Federation than the Ukrainian - media

Lovers of a particular coffee brand are likely to look at your preferences. The Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) Corporation, even after the start of a full -scale war, still actively operates in the Russian market and pays taxes to the budget of this country, which are much larger than those that enter the Ukrainian treasury. According to the latest official data, the Russian Federation received 29 times more income tax from Jacobs than Ukraine. According to OBOZ.

UA, according to the counting of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC), from the corporation, which included Jacobs (Mondelez International), the Russian budget in 2023 received $ 61 million. It is possible that this money could be directed to the purchase of 316 drones-Kamikadze "Shahamed" or 6 hypersonic missiles X-47 "Dagious", reports "Telegraph".

Moreover, the Ukrainian "daughter" of Jacobs "Jacobs Dau Egberts Ukraine" did not condemn the publicly full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation and did not announce the support of the Armed Forces. However, the company continues to operate in the Ukrainian market, selling products through large supermarket networks and utility companies. Jacobs income in 2022 in Russia amounted to 42. 7 billion rubles ($ 610 million), and income tax paid - 2. 2 billion rubles ($ 31. 4 million).

And these are not all financial obligations, because VAT and salary are not taken into account. In contrast in Ukraine, over a similar period, the company's revenue amounted to UAH 2. 9 billion, and income tax from this - only 22. 6 million hryvnias. A year later, in 2023, profits have already reached UAH 4 billion and tax - up to UAH 32. 2 million. But it is still less than the budget of the Russian Federation.

Jacobs did not respond to the calls of the international community and boycott in Sweden and Norway, and not just left the Russian market, but continued to invest in its economy. After all, in June 2022, a new production complex was opened in the Leningrad region. Moreover, the company has rebranded: Monarch Original products have appeared on the shelves of the Jacobs Monarch. The power of the Netherlands, where the company headquarters was located, was not surprised by such a company's decision.

However, Jacobs noted that "coffee is a necessary product for life", so they cannot leave Russian consumers. Asked why the company continues to work in the Russian Federation and does not publicly support Ukraine, Jacobs Dau Egberts Ukraine Director Pavel Varchuk refused to respond without commenting on the current situation. Large companies and retail networks, which sell Jacobs in Ukraine, do not see the violation of the legislation.

For example, McDonaldz Ukraine emphasizes that all norms and principles of integrity in cooperation with suppliers. At the same time, other international corporations such as yum! Brands (KFC owner), from the Russian market completely left and condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation. Therefore, the only lever of influence that can force Jacobs to change its policy remains public pressure.
