The drone can fly independently and pair with fighters to conduct reconnaissance...

US Army for the first time will experience a "smart" drone Boeing Ghost Bat: What is known about it (video)

The drone can fly independently and pair with fighters to conduct reconnaissance or destroy the enemy technique. The new MQ-28 Ghost Bat Military Unmanned Boeing appeared next to the US Air Force base in Illinois. About it writes Breaking Defense, referring to Boeing. Initially, the MQ-28 Ghost Bat was designed for the royal Air Force Australia, but in September, the US military said they plan to test it for their own needs.

Now the drone has been taken to the Boeing Phantom Works facility here, near St. Louis, which is adjacent to the Scott US Air Force. The media suggests that the military has launched a Ghost Bat test or proceed to them in the near future. Christle Carr, a Boeing Director from autonomous platforms for joint work, acknowledged that the drone arrived for tests, but did not say when and by whom they should be conducted.

According to Vice President and General Manager of the Boeing Phantom Works Pete Kunz, the MQ-28 deliveries depend on whether the devices meet the requirements of the US Army, which are not published yet. "We have no understanding of what they are leading," he said. The MQ-28 Ghost Bat, designed and developed in Australia, is a rare case when the US company develops technologies abroad and then exports them to their homeland.

According to the creators on their site, the drone has artificial intelligence for standalone flight and work paired with manned aircraft. It has a length of 11. 5 meters and can fly more than 3700 km. The US Air Force became interested in Ghost Bat, wishing to study the possibility of interaction of drones and fighters in battle. The US Army plans to create a fleet of 1000 such drones to increase the number of aircraft at an affordable price.

UAVs should be reconnaissance, rockets, or suppressing the enemy by means of electronic wrestling. If Ghost Bat tests are successful, Boeing may appear competitors. Last week, the head of the Air Force procurement department stated that up to 30 suppliers could apply for the creation of a UAV fleet. Last year, a new non-fighter was introduced in China, which was called a copy of Ghost Bat.
