There will be no money: it became known how Ukrainians will compensate for the loss of housing through the war

Individual citizens of Ukraine who are owners, customers of construction, investors of damaged or destroyed real estate objects, as well as their heirs will receive the right to compensation. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, February 23, supported the bill No. 7198 on the creation of a mechanism of compensation for housing, destroyed or damaged during the war. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

It will be almost impossible to obtain money for damaged property - they will be provided, in particular, either residential certificates or payment of repair work. It is known that the law will apply within 3 years after the termination or abolition of martial law "in the territory where such an object is located (located)". Compensations will be provided only for property damaged or destroyed since February 24, 2022.

"The law will not extend to the objects that were in the date of martial law in the temporarily occupied territory," Zheleznyak said. The compensation itself will be provided only for damaged or destroyed residential real estate. For example: as Yaroslav Zheleznyak explained, it is almost impossible to get money for damaged property. "Owners of destroyed apartments and other living quarters will receive a residential certificate.

This is a document confirming the state's guarantees to finance the purchase of an apartment or other living space (in particular, consolidated in the future) in the amount of a certain amount of money," the People's Deputy explained. At the same time, the owners of private homes, according to the deputy, can count on monetary compensation, because they will be given a choice: the marginal amount of compensation - both monetary and housing certificate - has not been established.

There will also be no restrictions on: "If the cost of the home is lower than the amount specified in the certificate, the underpassed part of the compensation will pay the recipient only at the expense of the funds received from the Russian Federation for damages," Yaroslav Zheleznyak added. Earlier, focus explained in detail how to Ukrainians fix the losses and apply for compensation for destroyed housing.
