The Russian Federation seized the largest sun and wind power plants with hundreds of megawatts

In the first 8 months of the war, Ukraine lost up to 90% of wind energy and up to 50% of the solar, as the power plants were seized by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Most of them were in the south of the country. The Russian army controls solar and windy power plants in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The center of journalistic investigations told about what is happening with the Green Energy in Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.

Under the control of the Armed Forces, solar power plants (SES), which are among the ten largest in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, were located in Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions. It is a 50 MW Solar Energy Solar Energy, launched in 2018, which occupies more than 96 hectares near Tokmak. The SES was partially destroyed due to shelling of "Grads" and lost about 20% of capacity. And also about Tokmak Solar Energy station in the village of New, located next to the robot.

This power plant has significant damage. Local sources reported that Russian invaders stole the solar panels of Scythia-Solar-2, located near Melitopol, as well as photocells from the station near Vasylivka. In total, they managed to take out more than 350 solar panels. All other SES (about 10 of them), according to satellite images, look intact, such as a photographic glacial station in a merry, which supplies the energy of the Zaporizhzhya Iron Ore Combine.

The Russians use its capacity for ore extraction. The occupying power of the Zaporizhzhya region resumed the work of two SES - in Yakimovka and in Melitopol. Their total capacity to a full -scale invasion was about 60 MW. Wind power plants could not function properly, since the power lines were damaged as a result of shelling. But the situation with the equipment here is much better - it was taken to Ukraine -controlled territory, and employees were evacuated.

In 2023, 10 winds were launched on their own, not without the help of collaborators. According to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko, only in 2022 did the country lose 90% of wind and 45% of solar energy due to the invasion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the first 8 months of the war, up to 90% of wind power was lost in the captured territories and up to 50% of the solar. Most of the "green" power plants were located in the south of the country.

As for the Kherson region, there is no information about the exact number of surviving SES and their technical condition. It is only known that the Russian power company "Rossets" carried out an inventory of local photovoltaic power plants in July 2023. On the online map of the Kherson region it was possible to identify 23 SES, similar in size and capacity of Zaporizhzhya.

Two of the largest, with a total area of 100 hectares and a total capacity of 40 MW, located in the villages of Kostogrizovo and Vynohradow Oleshkiv district. Satellite images show that these stations have noticeable damage. The 16 MW Oleshkiv SES, which occupied about 100 hectares, was completely destroyed.

In other coastal settlements of the Left Bank, such as Tavriysk, Kakhovka and Nova Kakhovka, and further against the Dnieper reaches in the villages of Lyubimivka, Sofiyivka, Vasylivka, renewable energy at first glance was not injured. There are no destruction that could be seen in satellite images, nor on the Internet from the owners or occupation administrations. The rest of the objects are located several tens of kilometers from the front line.

Prior to the war, according to 2021, the capacity of all solar power plants in Ukraine was 6 230 MW. Today, 40% of facilities located in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporozhye are controlled by the Russians. At the same time, wind power plants in Ukraine have a total of 1670 MW, and already in 2022 90% of these capacities were lost. According to the results of 2022, DTEK received losses of UAH 15.

8 billion from the loss of capacities of the Primorsky wind farm, the Primorsky WIND-2, the Orel Vots and the Botievskaya wind farm located in the temporarily occupied territory. These stations produced 400 MW of electricity. Earlier, we wrote about how to launch a sunlight for our generation. Due to the shelling of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, 80% of generating and balancing capacity is destroyed, so businesses should produce themselves the energy of the sun and wind.
