Ukrainian doctors manage to save the extremities of defenders through modern technologies. About 40% of the wounded defenders have damage to limbs, and for their preservation use individual titanium implants that are made thanks to 3D technologies. This was reported on September 20 by the command of the medical forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook. Damage requires restoration of functionality. In case of serious injuries, doctors successfully use modern technologies.

Last year, defenders with very serious injuries began to come to medical institutions. Experts began to solve the problem. For bone prosthetics, doctors began to use individual titanium implants made with 3D technologies. Due to this, it is possible to save the limbs with difficult wounds. The report was recalled how a naval infantryman was brought to the hospital with a serious wound of the shoulder.

He did not have part of the bone, a large area of muscles was torn, but the joint was preserved. The fighter was lucky because in the previous stages of treatment, experts did not amputate their hand. Previously, doctors from the back moved muscles with skin on the shoulder. Subsequently, the surgeons managed to install an implant. After the operation, the warrior could already move his hand after three months, which confirmed the effectiveness of such a technique.

The process of manufacturing an individual titanium implant experts call long and quite painstaking. Initially, the surgeon sends the technical task for the volunteer engineers of Materialise. They create a 3D model, and later the layout. The doctor then makes his comments, taking into account the specific situation of the patient. Subsequently, an implant from Titan is printed, because it is this metal that is best placed in the bone.
