This year, the war in Ukraine will not end - the IMF's new forecast
The official explained that the lack of improvement in forecasts for Ukraine in the coming years is due to the continuation of hostilities and shelling of the Ukrainian energy sector. "As for the growth forecasts in Ukraine, they have really worsened, and this is a reflection of what we are seeing, in particular, from Russia's attacks on the energy infrastructure, which also affect the civilian population," Alfred Kammer emphasized.
He also reminded that the government of Ukraine itself indicated the continuation of the war with the Russian Federation. And the IMF predicts the indicators of economic growth of Ukraine, taking into account the fact that the war may continue throughout 2026. At the same time, the representative of the IMF positively assessed the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities in the conditions of martial law - they say, the government "has a very promising vision that goes beyond this war".
We will remind that in March 2025, the IMF called the probable date of the end of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. At that time, experts believed that the war could end at the end of 2025. Also, the IMF warned that products may become more expensive all over the world. Aggravation of trade relations between the USA and China, as well as increased risks of natural disasters in key regions of food production, were cited as the most important reasons for the price increase.
