NATO's first: Denmark will buy Ukrainian weapons for the Armed Forces - the Defense Ministry

The head of the Ukrainian defense department of Rustem Umerov noted that the Ukrainian defense industry is ready for cooperation at the international level. Denmark has announced the financing of the procurement of weapons of Ukrainian production. This decision was the result of the signing of the Memorandum between Ukraine and Denmark on June 13 in Brussels as part of the work of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine. This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.

"This is a big step because Denmark has become the first foreign country of NATO to invest in weapons production in Ukraine. This is a confirmation that the Ukrainian defense industry is ready for cooperation at the international level and is able to meet the highest standards," said the Ministry of Defense. According to him, the first weapons purchase contract is already in the final stage of preparation, and its signing is expected in the near future.

Denmark has already expressed its support for the project by investing $ 28. 5 million. "So far, this is the basic mechanism, it already has a result. In public some countries have already given the obligations, and now they have joined other countries. It will just be possible, we want to give countries to understand that they will invest, but mechanisms and procedure We offered it for us.

The Minister also noted that his Danish colleague Troyels Lund Polsen personally visited Ukrainian defense enterprises, assessing their potential and opportunities. Parliamentarians and Denmark's Defense Minister have demonstrated samples of Ukrainian weapons that can be purchased under the framework of military assistance to Ukraine - among them, for example, the Bogdan SAU.
