Disruptions with light after Russian shelling: which regions have electricity problems
According to the department, in Donetsk, through fighting, 14 settlements have been disconnected, almost 9 thousand consumers remained without light. "After the last massive shelling, the mine remains. The second managed to heal," the ministry reported. Also, after shelling in the Zaporizhzhya region, 4 settlements were disconnected, and in Sumy without energy supply there were 2. 4 thousand consumers.
"In addition, due to previous shelling, part of consumers in Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv regions remains without light. Repair crews work where the situation with security allows," the Ministry of Energy added. At the same time, the ministry notes that despite the difficult situation after shelling, the energy system works steadily. The repair campaign on generation and networks continues. Even against the background of lasting electricity, it is enough to cover the needs of consumers.
According to Ukrenergo, as of May 23, available water resources allow hydroelectric power plants to work throughout the day, as well as increase their generation to cover morning and evening peaks. "However, the flood is gradually reducing, which will affect the operation of hydroelectric power plants. In the daytime, solar and wind power plants are actively working. Gradually, they will be renovated for the repair of nuclear and thermal power plants," the company said.
We will remind, since May, most nuclear power units in Ukraine will stop work within the framework of planned repairs and modernization. Meanwhile, Energoatom reported that Ukrainians are unlikely to feel any inconvenience because of this, as the lack of electricity will be compensated at the expense of heat plants and imports. Also, on May 17, Ukrenergo would tell whether the Ukrainians would turn off the light in the summer.
