Kim Jong-un attended the opening ceremony of the memorial to North Korean soldiers who fought with Russian servicemen in the Kursk region during the Russian-Ukrainian war, during which he announced the continuation of military partnership with Russia. "The years of military brotherhood, during which the long-term development of bilateral friendship was guaranteed with precious blood, will continue to develop," the North Korean leader said.

At the same time, he added that the challenges of "dominance and tyranny" cannot stand in the way of relations between the countries. The opening ceremony of the memorial was accompanied by a hug between Kim Jong-un and the military. On footage from the scene of the events, North Korean military personnel present at the event can be seen shedding tears over their leader's speech.

Kim Jong-un, together with the military leadership of the country, demonstratively held a shovel in their hands and joined together in laying the foundation. As the agency writes, the event became another public honoring and recognition of the participation of the North Korean military in Russia's war with Ukraine.

"Now begins a great enterprise designed to perpetuate the noble spirit of the martyrs who returned to the arms of their homeland with the victory won at the cost of their lives, faithful to the sacred mission, as the feelings of our army, our people and our state, as well as a vital force for the relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation," Kim Jong-un's statement quoted KCNA.
