"Outright delusion": Skrypka said that he no longer supports the military coup in Ukraine

Share: Ukrainian musician and leader of the band "Vopli Vidopliasova" got into a scandal, saying in one of the last interviews that he supports the military coup. After these words were picked up by the media, the singer decided to "give back" and explained what he meant by accusing the Russian mass media of fomenting discord within Ukrainian society. Oleg Skrypka recently discussed the problem of Ukrainian politics, which is oversaturated with populists.

After the wave of discussions caused by his words, the musician came out to the public with explanations. "It is hard to believe that strong politicians can come to power in this situation. Or there will be some kind of military coup, I don't know, and they will put a good military man. I am for a military coup. To put a normal military man or even allow only military men into politics. That's it! This is who has gone through combat," he said.

When this quote was circulated by the media, the leader of the band "Vopli Vidopliasova" came out with an explanation. "Friends, we have been living in the realities of war for more than 10 years. One of its manifestations is an information war. During this time, a series of powerful information attacks were carried out on me personally. And in recent days, one of them has been unfolding in the information space, distorted information is spreading, as if I am calling for a military coup.

This, of course, is an outright delusion," writes Skrypka. To illustrate his point, he gave the example of a paper pigeon. "You can draw a pigeon, cut it into pieces and glue them together into a cloud from an explosion. So my words were taken out of the context of one interview, distorted and presented in the form of pieces that create a completely false impression," explains the musician.

According to him, the hostile mass media decided to use this quote about the military coup to manipulate public opinion and sow discord. "Let's be clear so that everything is clear: I am not calling for aggression, coups or violence. I am for the unity and strength of our Motherland. I love my land, my people and our culture. I dedicate my whole life to popularizing and strengthening our country, our culture at home and abroad," he added.

Skrypka noted that since 2014 he has been visiting soldiers at the front with concerts, engaged in charity work to support children of a "special fate", veterans, military personnel. "I saw the war through the eyes of our defenders. And I am convinced: it is those who have passed the tests on the fronts who will determine the future. Their experience, strength of spirit and love for the Motherland should become the foundation of state administration.

Not for coups, but for fair and wise decisions that will create a better future. My position remains unchanged: I am for good, for faith, for Victory, for a strong, flourishing Ukraine. Our strength in unity! Glory to Ukraine!" - concluded the artist. As a matter of fact, in Ukraine, criminal liability is provided for public calls for actions aimed at violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or at the seizure of state power (Article 109 of the Criminal Code).
